All I KNOW is, I know NOTHING!
June 10, 2008
By Aymee Rodriguez On Saturday I experienced something completely unexpected; it was a “high point” in my career. I got to interview Ms. Mabel Katz, a rising star in field of spirituality and Personal Development in the Hispanic Community. For those of you who have not yet heard of her she, is the author of a book entitled The Easiest Way “El Camino Mas Facil” in Spanish. She is the host of The Mabel Katz Show , her own daily television program which is broadcast daily from Los Angeles, California. She is also a teacher of the ancient healing art of Ho’oponopono which means to make things right, and a student of Dr. Ihaleakala Hew-Len. (The Psychologist who healed a whole ward of criminally insane patients at Hawaii State Mental Hospital and co-author of Zero Limits with Dr. Joe Vitale). I was so impressed with Mabel’s passion for what she does that she inspired this week’s article topic and I want to write to you about her as well. Mabel is the quintessential example of the miracles that take place in our daily lives when we let go of the “I know” attitude. This lovely lady is Argentine by birth and immigrated to the United States in the early 1980’s. She has a Business Degree is a Certified Public Accountant in Argentina and an Enrolled Agent in the U.S. specializing in the area of Taxation. She recently decided to let go of her highly successful accounting practice, in order to pursue her higher purpose which is to awaken the higher consciousness in people, and mostly the Latino community. I must admit that even though I had read her book several times, and expected to speak with a very well centered person, I took one look at her resume , and thought it would send chills down Donald Trumps spine. The world of finance is still very heavily male dominated and this lady has built a highly successful business by negotiating tax matters with the IRS for her clients! Negotiations with the IRS? OH boy, I thought this must be one tough lady! I started to get nervous and even a bit dizzy… I did not know what to expect truth be told. I caught many of my own self limiting beliefs before we spoke. I was curious as to how such a “highly analytical mind” could have become so “spiritual”. Did you catch that? (They are not mutually exclusive! The key is to use your mind as a tool). I felt a cold sweat coming on, and found myself replaying the memories of my Macroeconomics examination at the end of my year of Business School in Norway… I simply could not reconcile the two in my mind. There was something inside of me that was saying “I know that there is no WAY a CPA can be spiritual, but how crazy is that? Consider that my mother, who was my greatest spiritual mentor, was also a CPA and eventually left that role to pursue a life of helping others succeed through self-awareness. Are you starting to see how these sneaky beliefs work? They are NOT REAL! Only beliefs... Perhaps that will be next weeks article... Anyway... Back to the story… So how, did this highly analytical and materialistic mind finally come to terms with the fact that there is more to life than meets the eye? Mabel was good enough to share with me, (You can read the whole story in The Easiest Way or listen to the interview on The Halcyon’s upcoming series on remarkable women) the story of her oldest son Jonathan and how he “woke her up”. Mabel says “My mother used to come from Argentina to visit and she would say “Mabel looks at the house you have! Look at the brand new car, and you have a husband that loves you so much, and you have two beautiful kids! What is your Problem?” And yes, I wondered myself what my problem was?” The woman who used to purchase one house, and instantly be preoccupied with how the "next" was going to look, and so on…Has evolved from running mostly from intellect into truly a shining example of what happens when you trust your intuition. Are you even remotely curious as to how it is that such a thing can happen? In The Power of Now Eckhart Tolle writes, and Mabel quotes in her book “Even when we attain all our desired possessions, we soon find that the hole is still there, that it is bottomless.” I asked her about the change. She explained to me that she had come to understand that she did not have a “need” for material things by the time she had reached the point in her life where her marriage of 20+ years was over. "I left with very little and even some debt that I took responsibility for." She went on to tell me that of course there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with having wonderful and beautiful things such as a great house and beautiful new cars, it’s when you define yourself by those objects when it becomes a problem. I agreed with her that it is not the things, but rather our relationship to those things where we find our greatest challenges in life. One of the things I learned from my conversation with this amazing woman is how clear she is about being100% responsible for what comes into her experience, her incredible sense of gratitude for everything and that she is 100% trusting of whatever Divinity has in store for her. We talked about how important it is to let go of “knowing” and this is what those of us who practice Ho’oponopono on a daily basis do. She described it much more elegantly and said “You must give God permission to guide you”. I simply love that. When we believe that we know the outcome of a particular situation for example “I don’t have money, and I know never will because I was born poor, that's just the way IT IS” then we condemn ourselves to what we know. When you know, there is no other outcome possible. When you make the decision to “Give Divinity permission to guide you” at first you will come from a place of faith (which to me means being open to the possibility). That faith will eventually evolve into a magnificent KNOWING that whatever you call God, Divinity, The Universe or The Divine Architect always takes care of you when you allow the room for guidance. So what this whole thing boils down to is; • Your intellect, by itself is not capable of KNOWING anything. • Once you let go of your need to “know” and allow Divinity to guide and inspire you. a multitude of wonderful ideas, events, people, places and things begin to rush into your experience. • Understand that YOU are not who you think you are, you are much more! There is a part of you that does KNOW everything. Surrender to your Higher Mind! What we can learn from Mabel is that when she no longer allowed herself to be defined by who she thought she was. CPA, Mother, Wife, Owner of expensive houses and cars etc....In other words her role as a self admitted analytical materialist, she allowed room for growth. In that room, she has blossomed into a Talk Show Host, radio personality and now full time Facilitator of Spiritual Consciousness and who knows where else this is going to take her? I am feeling the vibe of a dynamic woman that will soon have the clout of an Oprah Winfrey, and I like it! In fact I love it! Imagine all the people that this message will reach! Let’s raise universal consciousness together! Mabel admitted to me that when she let go of what she knew, and gave “The Divine Architect” permission to guide her, she has had it much better than she ever expected, and it can be the same for you, but only if you are willing to NOT KNOW! Lesson: All I KNOW is I know NOTHING! Affirmation: I am willing to let go of I KNOW and allow Divine inspiration to FLOW. Every minute of every day, I start from Zero. Love, Light and Divine Blessings Aymee p..s. Look for my interview with Mabel Katz in the coming weeks! I am also hashing out plans for her and a few other remarkable mentors to give come give a talk down here in Southwest FLORIDA with me! Is this really my JOB ? I AM the luckiest woman on the Planet!
